In December, total non-farm payroll employment decreased by 524,000 over the month and by 2,589,000 from a year earlier. In the subsequent years the industries in 2005-2006, had significant more layoff claims than the impending years. Here we can see that in 2006-2008, there was a decline in the industry in the area of automobiles, however the claims were still high in the peak month. This data set is based on the ending month of December of each year. This allows for an accurate analysis for initial claims.
