So America was free from Britain two days earlier than what we celebrate. Another interesting fact is that the delegates did not begin to sign the document until August 2, 1774. There were many events leading up to the drawing of this document. Now who here knows why the colonists decided to adopt this document? (wait for responses) Good, those are all correct!
