Autism is a devastating neurological disorder that affects the social and language skills of hundreds of thousands of children and their families worldwide. The subject of autism has been addressed in many ways in television shows and movies and has given the world a glimpse of this debilitating disorder, showing us the tremendous physical and emotional toll it takes on the children and families who are touched by it. The CDC currently reports that 1 in 150 children is diagnosed with autism. The causes are elusive and ill-defined, and at this point there is no cure in sight.
AMY’S JOURNEY is an idea for a feature film based upon a true story about a mother who refuses to accept a medical diagnosis of autism as the final word on the fate of her child.
