The title of this book I chose is Gathering Blue written by Lois Lowry. This book was copyrighted year 2000 and was reprinted by arrangement with Houghton Mifflin Company Printed in the United States of America September 2002. I l chose this book because I like the cover. It looks so inspiring and the first time I saw it I feel that it has a good story. It is a companion to the Newbery Award Winner The Giver.

The main character is a young lame girl named Kira. She is a loving but lonely person. She is generally mistrusting because of her handicap. Her mother is there only briefly and is killed off early in the book. However, there are mentions of her throughout.
