The love between George and Lenny throughout the novel, Of Mice and Men, is perhaps the most renowned friendship in all of literature. While most readers praise George for his unwavering kindness and protection of his mentally deficient companion, the true lesson John Steinbeck wishes to convey is the essential uniqueness and importance of each person. While the friendship may seem one-sided, George’s dreams and aspirations are contingent on Lenny’s survival.
