English historian Edward Gibbon once said, “Rome was guilty of immoderate greatness”. Gibbon believed that Rome became so large and so great that its government could no longer support it. The Roman Empire was one of the greatest civilizations in the world. While there’s no single reason, there are several factors which lead to the collapse of the Roman Empire. Rome fell because of many reasons such as being surrounded geographically by enemies. Rome was also having trouble with its government and how they taxed people unfairly. Barbarian tribes pushing the northern borders added to Rome’s trouble of keeping their empire secure. Some of the barbarians were allowed to settle on their ground and fight for them because the empire was low on solders but the Romans soon lost control of them. The Roman legions were “barbarinized” meaning over time they had lost most of their military strategy, armor and the Roman morals. Once the military has lost the old morals that......
