Toni Morrison writes the novel Sula about the friendship of two women and their changing community. A noticeable characteristic of the story is the names of the chapter. Instead of naming each chapter with words, Toni Morrison names each chapter with a year. After researching the major events that happened in the years that Toni Morrison uses, it creates a better understanding as to why certain events take place in the story.
