INTRODUCTION

Road movies what are they and why are they important to the people in America as well as the world at large? Road movies had been around for a very long time. These type of movies were created in the early 40’s and 50’s. Tim Dirk whom created the website, www.filmsite.org/road films html, (The Greatest Films), 1996, stated that Road films have been an affix of American films from the very start and have ranged in genres from “westerns, comedies, gangster crime films, drams and action-adventure.” There are quite a few things that road movies have in common with each other, such as, a search on the open road or unexposed path or a sporadic voyage, which seek an escape or to connect in a mission for some kind of goal.
