Paul Friedlander, author of Rock and Roll, examined the twenty different concepts, or lenses, that gleamed from many disciplines. Each of the lenses that Paul came up with is designed to make some aspect of reading about, listening to, as well as analyzing rock music clearer, and more understandable. As we look through these lenses we will be examining the life and career path of one of the most memorable groups in the 80’s music culture, Salt n Pepa. Using the lenses in which Paul Friedlander devised, I will be describing their music style, their performance, and their connection with the music culture, the society they were singing to, and many more areas.
