The negative externality that is presented in this article is that the high gas taxes are all sorts of costs associated with driving that the consumers do not have to pay-someone else has to pay for these costs. Consumers say that the government could easily correct this problem by making a gas tax that aligns with the private incentive to drive with all the social costs of driving.
There many externalities that are associated with driving. These externalities include the following: Driving helps contribute to global warming. All types of driving increases the congestion for other drivers around. There also might be crash into another car or pedestrian.
