Emotional Intelligence
From many definitions of emotional intelligence that I found on the internet, one from http://www.unh.edu, says that emotional intelligence represents an ability to validly reason with emotions and to use emotions to enhance thought.
Either way, there is a growing agreement that our emotional intelligence is much more important in predicting our level of success and satisfaction in life than our I.Q. Taken from the handout given to us in class, the Carnegie Foundation found only fifteen percent of a person’s success is determined by job knowledge and technical skills while eighty-five percent is determined by an individual’s attitude and ability to relate to other people. It would matter what you knew or how skilled you were, if you are not able to get along with other workers, you may not have a job to use your skills.
