I. Introduction

This paper is based on the reason why Grenada was invaded by the US in 1983. Grenada, a tiny island is located north of Trinidad and Tobago and south of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and lies twelve degrees north of the equator.[1] The Arawaks first settled Grenada in about the 1st Century A. D., and then the Caribs dominating the island until 150 years after Christopher Columbus first named the island Concepción in 1498.[2] The island was French until it was captured by the British in 1762, during the Seven Years War, and was formally ceded to Great Britain by the Treaty of Paris (1763). The French regained control in 1779, but restored the island to the British by the Treaty of Versailles (1783) and it remained theirs till the end of the colonial period.[3]
A new era in Grenadian history begun when, Eric Gairy registered his Grenada Manual and Mental Workers Union (GMMWU) in 1950.[4] Gairy gained many accomplishments: he served as Chief Minister......
