In The Name of Justice


“Justice itself is the concept of a proper proportion between a persons deserts (what is merited) and the good and bad things that befall or are allotted to him or her.”(Aristotle 384-322bc). The novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is an extremely telling novel about justice and discrimination in the 1930's. The film The Long Walk Home is a real life story about the hardship of black persons in the 1950's, and all of the nasty things that they had to go through because of their race. In both the text, To Kill A Mockingbird, and in the movie, The Long Walk Home, different characters experiences (Norman Thompson’s Atticus Finch’s, and Miriam Thompson’s) teach us a lesson about the different values of justice.
The second theme is a negative value of justice: this is called injustice. Injustice by definition is “The fact or quality of being unjust; a violation or denial of justice” (Funk and Wagnalls Standard College Dictionary, 694).......
