Abortion: Women’s freedom of choice

Is the entity growing inside the woman a viable human being? In today’s world, abortion has become a many faceted term. It is used to describe the ideas of Pro Choice, Pro-life, women’s reproductive rights, etc… Through the bombardment of information from religious groups, political groups and many other special interest groups, it is easy to forget why the abortion debate came to life.
The history of abortion pre dates the existence of the United States. During the colonial times abortion was legal but was banned in the mid 1800s due to unclean and primitive medical procedures. It was not until the middle of the twentieth century that abortion had advanced to be one of the safest medical procedures available. “In 1965, all fifty states banned abortion, with some exceptions which varied by states: to save the life of the mother, in case of rape or incest, or if the fetus was deformed.” In 1973, the U S......
