Through out this winter the war was at are very gates, at times even in them. Towards the beginning of winter the Union army used are small town as a hospital. It was hard for my mom and one of my brothers to see them because they realized that the Confederates were losing;. The town was split every one knew who favored either side but no one would say anything to each other about it.
Shortly after Christmas was a time I would never forget. We had been hearing rumors from the beginning of the war and we no longer paid any more attention to them. There was a rumor that the Confederates were progressing and were going to send a massive for in. They did.
One cold day in January was where the clash was. The battle was so close that we could see it from our roofs. It was a slotter., the Confederates had the Union outnumbered at least 5 to 1. That battle lasted only 1hour then they came to out town. We quickly hid our positions in our gardens again. When they came every one......
