The bomb was dropped for many reasons and President Truman was faced with a hard decision to drop the bomb. During World War II, the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. If he dropped the bomb he would surely have killed an estimated 200,000 Japanese and the city of Hiroshima. Otherwise he would risk the invasion of Japan, which would cause even more casualties
and even more Japanese lost lives. Truman thought of the military, political, and moral benefits and harms for dropping the bomb on Hiroshima. David McCullough said, "If you want one explanation to why Truman dropped the bomb; it was done to stop the killing." (Hunt, A9) My purpose is to inform that President Truman was right to drop the bomb.
