Walter Dean Myers expresses a lot of wisdom throughout his stories. In many of his stories he gives the wisdom of fighting for what you believe in. Two such stories are "The Glory Field" and "Ida Wells." Both stories "warmed in my mind" to help me discover this wisdom.
"The Glory Field" stresses the wisdom of fighting for what you believe in. Throughout the story were examples of this wisdom and how each generation of Lewis overcame their obstacles. One example was how Joshua and Lem fought for their freedom. They didn't give up after Lem was captured but instead Joshua rescued him and together they continue their journey to freedom. Another example of fighting for what you believe in was how Malcolm fought to get to the family reunion because he believed it was important to be there. Even though his plans were thrown off target after his cousin Shep spent the money for the plane tickets Malcolm fought hard to get to the reunion.
