Paul Hogan invited Americans to come down under two decades ago and this saw the number of tourists rise from under a million to over five million visitors a year. However, they do try to paint Australia in a different light to change and broaden the perception that the world has of Australia. "Australian Tourist commission [sic] Ken Boundy said the new approach represents Australia as a country rather than merely a holiday destination."
