"A Rose For Emily"
The short story " A Rose For Emily", by William Faulkner, tells us about the former life of the main character Ms. Emily Grierson. A third-person narrator, with the perspective of the townspeople, tells the reader the story. The story starts out at Emily's funeral, which the whole town attended, " the men through a sort of respectful affection for a fallen monument, the women mostly out of curiosity to see the inside of her house."
When Ms. Emily was younger, her father kept an iron grip on her life, pushing away all suitable bachelors that came to call. Eventually her father died, and not too much longer after that Ms. Emily met a Yankee construction foreman named Homer Barron. After several months of being spotted together, Homer disappears and it is assumed that he and Ms. Emily get married. Eventually Ms. Emily dies from an unknown sickness.
