Due to the fact that I'm a huge admirer of Homers Iliad, I thought that the movie Troy wouldn't be to my liking. I have always had this theory that movies ruin great writings by excluding a lot of parts from the actual writings and not being quite as accurate as they ought to be, but after watching the actual movie I beg to differ. While not being utterly historically accurate, the movie was strikingly an excellent non-accurate account of the actual story.
Initially, the movie had attracted a massive crowd before its completion. The producers were fortunate enough to have acquired a crew of the most sought after actors including Eric Bana staring as Hector, Orlando Bloom as Paris, and Brad Pitt as Achilles. The fact that the advertisement for the movie itself was released a year before its completion played a great part in the movies huge success.
