Pete Turner
Born in Albany New York in 1934, from a young age Pete Turner had a great fascination with chemistry and the reactions it caused. It was this interest which steered him towards photography, which resulted in a life long affinity for the subject, especially colour photography. It was an assignment to Africa with National Geographic which was the turning point for his career. It was here that his greatest inspiration was drawn, and was also the time and place where his work began to be recognised and published in places such as Esquire, Holiday and Sports Illustrated. As he developed as a photographer his focus shifted from editorial photography to that of advertising photography, while pursuing his personal work in conceptual photography. His work has been exhibited all around the globe, is published in numerous books and continues to go back to Africa for constant photographic inspiration.
